We test the tech
so you don’t
have to.
Two writers. 20+ combined years of editorial experience. One mission: to make technology understandable, honest, and actually useful for real people.
Grown on trust.
Technology moves fast. New AI tools launch every week. Apps update overnight. The gadget you bought six months ago already has a successor. Keeping up shouldn’t feel like a second job, but for most people, it does.
We started Your Tech Compass because we were tired of tech coverage that was either too shallow to be useful, too technical to be readable, or quietly shaped by whoever was paying the most in affiliate commissions. We wanted something different: honest, plain-English coverage that actually helps you make better decisions.
Everything we publish fits into what we know well: AI tools and what they’re genuinely useful for, apps and software worth your time, practical tech guides that actually work, and the African tech stories the rest of the world isn’t covering with the depth they deserve.
We’re building this the right way. Every piece we publish is something we’d want to read ourselves. We’re glad you’re here.
We’re not a content farm or a faceless media brand. We’re two writers who care deeply about getting things right and who know that your trust is harder to earn than a click.
Oscar Mwangi is the Founder and Senior Tech Writer at Your Tech Compass. He creates clear, actionable guides on AI tools, African fintech, and emerging tech trends, helping you navigate technology with confidence. His mission is to spotlight Africa’s innovation stories while ensuring every article meets high editorial standards and delivers practical value.
— Oscar Mwangi, Founder
Diana has spent over a decade writing about technology for readers who don’t have a computer science degree, and don’t want one. She specializes in breaking down complex products and AI tools into honest, readable explanations that tell you what something actually does, not just what the marketing says. Diana writes most of our in-depth reviews, AI explainers, and step-by-step guides. If a product has a flaw, she’ll say so.
— Diana Nadim, Co-Founder
Every category we cover is held to the same standard: tested, honest, and written for real people making real decisions.
A continent rising.
We’re already there.
Beyond global AI tools and productivity coverage, Oscar leads our African Tech reporting, spotlighting the startups, fintech disruptors, and AI innovators reshaping the continent from within.
Africa’s technology story is one of the most exciting in the world right now. Mobile money platforms are rewriting financial access. Homegrown AI products are being built for local context. A new generation of African founders is solving problems the rest of the world hasn’t even noticed yet. We cover it with the seriousness it deserves.
These are not policies we wrote for a legal page. They are the standards we hold ourselves to every time we publish.
We test things ourselves
Every review is based on hands-on use or thorough research, not repackaged press releases. When we recommend something, it’s because we genuinely believe it’s good for you, not because it pays the highest commission.
We’re honest about what we don’t know
If a product has changed since we tested it, or if we haven’t used it ourselves, we say so. We’d rather admit a limitation than pretend it doesn’t exist.
We’re transparent about how we make money
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These commissions keep the site running. They never influence what we recommend. If something isn’t worth buying, we say so.
